WHY JOIN OUR PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION?

The PTA supports the students, teachers, faculty and the school facilities.

Some examples of what we support:

  • Accelerated Reader (AR) program annual subscription

  • Teacher Appreciation activities

  • Book Fair to support our Media Center

  • Support to Special Areas and PE department

  • Beautification projects for our school’s garden program and playground

  • Fun family programs and events

The PTA contributes to Coconut Grove Elementary community by:

  1. Raising money to provide classroom materials and support activities and initiatives that enhance students’ growth and learning.

  2. Sponsoring and planning special programs such as Book fairs, the Garden Program, Values Committee Lessons, Cultural Heritage celebrations, Teacher Appreciation, and many other events. Our goal is to offer fun, educational activities that will build community and encourage our students to accelerate excellence!

OUR MISSION & VALUES

Commitment: We are dedicated to promoting children’s health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent, family, and community involvement, while remaining accountable to the principles upon which this PTA was founded.

Accountability: All members, volunteers, and partners have a shared responsibility to align their efforts toward the achievement of our association’s initiatives and goals. In short, we acknowledge our obligations; we deliver on our promises.

Respect: We value the individual contributions of members, volunteers, and partners as we work collaboratively to achieve our goals. Regardless of any of our differences, we believe everyone should be treated with respect. We expect the same high regard from ourselves as we do from others.

Diversity: We acknowledge and value the potential of everyone without regard, including but not limited to: age, culture, economic status, educational background, ethnicity, gender, title, geographic location, legal status, marital status, mental ability, national origin, organizational position, parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation, and work experience.

Collaboration: We work in partnership with a wide array of individuals, and  our school’s administration, to align our goals and to maximize benefits for ALL students, families and staff at CGE.

Inclusivity: We value and seek input from as wide a spectrum of viewpoints and experiences as possible. We invite the stranger and welcome the newcomer.
